Layers of privilege collide when a naïve bridesmaid meets a semi-famous blind artist on a public bus. It’s Julia’s first time on Cleveland’s RTA and Jason offers to guide her across town. On the way, the unlikely pair discovers an unusual connection that is central to Jason’s art and career, making Julia the perfect subject for his next book.

Playwright

Meghan Louise Wagner is a writer from Cleveland, Ohio. She is currently pursuing an MFA from Cleveland State University and the NEOMFA. Her work has appeared in such places as Jellyfish ReviewFlash FictionLiterally Stories101 Words, and Umbrella Factory.


Director

Constance Thackaberry is a communications coach, public speaker, and recovering actor who loves developing new plays. Connie was a founding member and the Senior Artistic Associate at Actors’ Summit. Favorite directing work: A Girl’s Guide to Coffee by Eric Coble (world premiere); Motherhood Out LoudNixon’s NixonBad Jews, and Handle with Care, among many others. Connie received her MFA from The Actors Studio Drama School.


Cast

Denise Astorino (Rachel, Girl 2, Phone Rep) is excited to have just recently moved back to Cleveland after five years out of state in Mississippi. She holds an MFA in Directing from East 15 Theatre School in London UK and teaches theatre at University of Akron. She also works part time for the LGBT Center of Cleveland as the Lorain County Coordinator of the LGBTQ+ Task Force of Lorain County. She’ll be directing two shows in 2020 and is honored to be part of this cast.

Leonard Goff (Bus Driver, Mechanic, Chef, Donald Lewis Osgood), a graduate of Cleveland State University, has performed in several local theaters. Most recently, he appeared in Cleveland Shakespeare Festival’s Much Ado About Nothing and Beck Center’s Lady Day at Emerson Bar and Grill. He would like to thank Connie for this outstanding opportunity. 

Stuart Hoffman (Jason) is a Cleveland-based actor and sometimes playwright. He’s been lucky enough to have worked with many local theaters. Recent credits include Glengarry Glen Ross (Beck Center), Much Ado About Nothing (Cleveland Shakespeare Festival), and The End of the Tour (Seat of the Pants). Thank you for supporting live theatre.

Kyle Huff (Kevin, Rico, Server) is elated to be working on his first show at Playwrights Local. Kyle started Shahrazad Theatre Company in Cleveland Heights and has worked with a myriad of theaters in and around Cleveland. Kyle is currently assistant directing Seat of the Pants’ Ripcord.

Rachel Maria Inés (Julia) is an actor and choreographer, as well as proud University of Mount Union Theatre alumna. She has recently toured in Nebraska Theatre Caravan’s 40th anniversary national tour of A Christmas Carol as well as Creede Repertory Theatre’s Young Audience Outreach Tour of Albert Porter: Boy Explorer. Favorite credits: Kiss of the Spider Woman (Spider Woman), West Side Story (Rosalia), The 25th Annual…Spelling Bee (Marcy Park), and Informed Consent (Arella/Natalie).

Diane Mull (Dora, Girl 1) most recently appeared in August Osage County at Lakeland. Favorite credits: Free Man of Color, Crimes of the Heart, An Ideal Husband, Twelfth Night, Safety, Proof and Charley’s Aunt. Diane is a proud graduate of Ohio University’s theater program, a former Great Lakes Actor Teacher and currently serves as a coordinator of the Women’s Center at Lakeland Community College. Diane’s favorite role is as “mom” to her 4 children and wife to Nick.

Laura Stitt (Mom, Vanessa) is a professional actor who has had the opportunity to perform in a variety of genres in Akron, Cleveland, Chicago, Vermont, and on tour. Some of her favorite productions include Angels in AmericaI Do I DoA Streetcar Named Desire, and Macbeth. Laura holds an MFA in Acting from Case Western Reserve University. She is also the cofounder of Center for Applied Drama and Autism.
